...this will be unpopular but Graham Souness was a one man team against us in the League Cup Final replay at Maine Road. I wasn't too upset coming out despite the result because I knew we were about to overtake them in the pecking order but Souness was magnificent that very wet night. He even managed to beat Southall from 20 yards.

He was nasty and often arrogant on the pitch but he could play.
Agreed. The most complete midfield performance in a key game I've ever seen. Some player. A Red yes, but never forget his comment some years ago that Everton were potentially a bigger club than the RS.

kone v sunderland. To come back from all that criticism to produce a stunning hat trick was a real testament of a great evertonian no. 9.

Nah, fellaini had a couple, he utterly tormented united where he scored the winner on the opening game a few years back.

he's the only RS pundit i have time for, even tho' he had massive success with them he's not one of those cultish types.

Kanchelskis away at Sheffield Wednesday was ridiculous. They knew exactly what he was going to do (Run fast, cut in, shoot hard and score, like he always did) but they just couldnt stop him.

Thomas Myhre's debut against Leeds was pretty special too.

Nigel Martyn in the derbies of January and December 2004 - just superhuman both times. Especially the January one which was a 0-0 draw at Anfield.

Few things can be more surreal though than seeing Steve Watson bag a hat trick against Leeds. As bad as they were, that is some feat for a fullback.

And in third place, Barkley v Newcastle in March 2014. Magic.

against us - Fabregas and Arsenal. 4-1 defeat at Goodison, 2004.

For us - see above after next
Against us - Bergkamp in the 7-0 of May 2005. Mahrez at Goodison last xmas is a close second, he made life an absolute misery and took those pens like a real champion. I had absolutely no doubt they'd win the title after that one.
Not involving us - Jonas for the black and white scruffs against the claret and blue scruffs on the last day of 2014/15 up at St Scruffy's Park

Just to try and add something different I would give a mention to Seamus Coleman v Arsenal in Martinez 1st season.

He was on another planet that day, running up the pitch doing keepy-ups and his outrageous spin on Cazorla, and that was against a very strong Arsenal side. Best Right Back performance I have seen.
