Best ever game of football not involving Everton?

2006 World Cup Semi Final between Germany and Italy. One of, if not the greatest 0-0’s you’ll ever see. And the two goals that saw Italy win it late on in extra time are absolutely phenomenal. Especially with Italian commentary. On the night Pirlo was fantastic but Cannavaro stands out giving one of the greatest performances from a defender ever. People sneer at the fact he won the Ballon d’Or but I like the fact that a defender was actually recognised for a change.

Oh and they also did it in Germany which made the victory even better.

1966.
World Cup Group Game at the Old Lady, Brazil v Hungary.
Hungary battered the then World Cup holders 3-1 mainly on the back of a stellar performance from Florian Albert at centre forward, ably assisted by Ferenc Bene on the wing.
Get a viewing of that performance on You Tube to see for yourselves

Oh and how the Italians celebrated!
I was on holiday in Lido de Jesolo at the time and the celebrations outside our hotel were to coin a well worn phrase, phenomenal.

Almost anything from the AC Milan team in 89 - the two marcos up front, what a setup that was.

Marco Simone
Marco Van Basten
Ruud Gullit
Frank Rijkaard
Anceloti
Maldini
Costacurta

Or when they added Jean-Pierre Papin a couple of years later.

Beautiful football every game.
