And how much are you going to pay for that proper footballer? And once you've bought him what are you going to do with him? Who do you drop him for or how do you keep him happy if he takes Bernies place on the bench?

Frustratingly inconsistent player, he's got that bit of trickery not many in this team possess but games tend to just pass him by a lot of the time. I like him but those wages could be spent better.

But you forget he cost us nothing. We'd have to pay £20m to bring in somebody of at least the same quality, which is £100k pw over a 4 year period. And then you'll have to pay him a wage.

I wish people would stop using his wage as a excuse to beat him over the head with.

He’s not good enough as a back up long term

Face up to reality. We aren't the sort of club that can keep a quality player happy as a squad player. The only reason he's getting game time now is because we have 5 or 6 injuries to first XI players. Even then he's a bench player. If Carlo had a fully fit squad now he isn't getting in the match day squad. What player, of a higher standard than Bernard, is going to put up with that for any length of time. The chances are they'll be causing mayhem in the training room. Yeah. bring it on.

We’ve already seen this season with out Richarlison/James We have no quality to come of the bench and change games on a consistent basis. Or If the front 3 aren’t firing like v Leeds. That’s when in an hour you change 2 of them. Iwobi has done ok the last 5/6 games, but he’s not good enough to play 30/40 games.

If we had another player similar level to Richarlison, due to injuries and suspensions, he probably would have started 10 of the 15 games this season. A midfielder at Allan’s level, again probably starts half the games and come of the bench in the rest.

I’m not saying we need 11 top class players on the bench. But at least 5/6, to give us half a chance

Yesterday was the perfect type of game for him, and he played well.

Needed that player to get on the ball and give us that impetus and bit of guile between the lines.

i Still think he could be tried in a central position, he is quicker and smarter with the ball than Gylfi and i think he would work harder off the ball. If we had better wide players I also think Iwobi would be a better option centrally. We need to walk before we can run, Bernard is certainly a useful player until we establish ourselves in Europe for a couple of seasons. I hate this a player is [Poor language removed] or world class. Players have certain qualities and weaknesses but last nights game was tailored for Bernard. Gordon may be more effective in a counter attacking game. Ancellotis job is to select the right players for the right games. We are developing different ways to win games on the back of a solid defence which is giving us a chance of results in every game. If we defend well we could get a result tomorrow.

I thought he played very well yesterday and more than earned his corn. He's keen as mustard too which is a great quality.

Bernard won’t be here.
The idea is to have 4 quality attackers for your front 3 positions. And a very good back up for DCL, not just a back up, someone who will take his place if he has a dip in form. 6th choice is iwobi, 7th a youngster IE Gordon.

And the same in midfield
