Didn't look out of place playing PL football at 19. Obviously a small sample size but to near disappear completely for 2 years is bizarre. Have to guess its non football reasons

Sadly that seems the case, if he was injured you would presume we would get updates?

I dunno, I only wish the lad well regardless, just sadly I doubt hes making it here currently.

As you say didn’t look out of place when he played, which is unusual for someone his age. The whole situation with the lad is very odd, you’d hope he could sort himself out as we aren’t blessed with defensive midfielders but not looking good.

I don’t recollect seeing him in any age group training pics. As a club we are usually good at dealing with situations for our young players in a sympathetic manner, hopefully things get turned around for him.

Beni played in his second consecutive U23s game yesterday, that puts him back to pre season two years ago but at least he’s back in the fold.

Couldn't agree less with this.

He came into a team that lacked any confidence whatsoever when the senior players where hiding up their own arseholes because they completely lacked bottle. He was our MOM in at least 2 of those games and hardly disgraced himself in the others. The bottom line is that he outshone the senior players whose job it was to help him through those games. He was only just turned 18 at the time.

To some people, unless you score a goal on your debut, or run the ball past 6 players, you're gash, even if you're a defensive midfielder.

But couldn't get a game for wigan.

Nope , no idea but there were “rumours” of a poor attitude at Wigan. Given he played more first team games than either Connolly or Joe Williams have, it suggests he should have been capable of getting games in a Championship side as they have done. No mention from Unsworth either in pre season, he usually offers some praise or comment if someone is coming back from injury.
