That sounds like a belief system. I don't have a belief system.

I will feel more satisfied knowing that I still have that pound in my pocket that I can put towards a nice holiday, or a new computer. Or my season ticket.

I have watched charity shows every year, and apart from them being celebrity PR first and foremost, I see very little evidence in my money making a difference. As far as I can tell poverty still exists, and it's been 24 years since Bob Geldolf first made a stink about it.

So I don't want nothing to do with charity, I am more interested in my life and those close to me. Call me selfish if you like, but that's what I am more interested in. Doesn't mean I don't care about people or their welfare, just that I think handing over a quid in the streets is no guarantee that any good will come from that pound.

I'd rather be involved in a program that educates and get's these people back on their feet. Get them back into society. I have seen the same beggar in Chester for 10 years, he has recently moved to Birkenhead, but he is still there shouting Big Issue. How long does it take? Or is it a non event?

I also pay taxes and I would expect the government to spend more money taking care of their own people rather than allowing all and sundry to walk in and exploit.

Fair call.
