It's called The Victoria mate, it's in Bristol, proper old boozer. There's 5 in the estate along with a 9 barrel brewery.

I've been working at the brewery the last few weeks as well, I'll do a post about it in here when I get a bit more time.

Just looked at the website. It would be a dream come true for me to be involved with a pub like the Victoria ;)

If this is the one I think it is (on the corner by the Lido in Clifton), I've enjoyed hundreds of pints in there and it never, ever disappoints. Great pub in a lovely area.

Had a pint from Siren brewery the other week, one of the best beers I've had in ages. Just picked up some bottles from our local offy:

Liquid Monstrous - 8.2%, big malt Imperial Red IPA, finished with four different hops, adds real dry bite. Really recommend this, something special.

Not been drinking as much beer recently as I once did, so it has to be something special to draw me away from my wine & cocktails....well, tonight it was a 2005 Thomas Hardy Ale. Had it in my cellar from the release, and it has aged, and is ageing wonderfully.

Clean dark ruby pour. Aromas and flavours of raisins, Port, PX grapes, dark chocolate, treacle, liquorice, malt loaf. The sweetness & complexity is rivaling that of a Port and/or a Southern Spanish dessert wine. The changes in a year are amazing. Jeez, there's coffee flavours here, cinder toffee, treacle, tobacco, prunes. Ever changing as it warms.

I savoured this beer for an hour. Just the aroma alone was enough!!
