BBC website on 'City's rivals'; Everton excluded at the expense of others

It's the lack of consistancy in the criteria they use which shows up the lack of quality in Journalism. When we finished 6th, 5th and 5th in consecutive seasons, did any of us consider us serious title contenders? I certainly didn't. And I can't remember anyone on this forum doing so. So why Newcastle after one good season? It's the lack of quality in journalism which annoys me. Not the fact that we're not on the list.

Bingo.

Because the media love Newcastle for some reason 'oh look at the geordie faithful, 55,000 every home game' **** off.

It reminds me of Sky. Whenever Liverpool are 6th in the league, they show the top 6 on the screen. Whenever Everton are 6th, it becomes the top 5, and so on.

This is the only thing that grates me. Not being giving the recognition we rightly deserve, the rest I can live with, the 'being City's Rivals ' speculation and conjecture aspect. But when we are worthy of a mention in despatches and the media deliberately manipulates and spins the situation to allow for their 'favourites', that's when I get riled.

The SKY four will always be in effect, Liverpool will always rest on their laurels and consider themselves 'Kings of Europe' in theirs and their merchandising eyes. Meanwhile, we'll just happily bob along in the wake and gently paddle past the 'big boys' into a position that will force Sky / BBC to recognise us. Am I being 'bitter' for simply wanting some recognition ? If that's what people want to think, then let 'em. But Sky etc.., please just wake up and admit when your wrong and every now and then, just give us the respect we deserve, .:@

Well as unfair as it is kids I can see why the bbc did that, as bad as liverpool did last season, alot is changing over the park, lot of money being spent as usual so they could do something this up coming season. Doubt they will touch city though but they could be in that mix. Likewise with Newcastle if they can improve on last season.

Its the thing with everton, we may do better than liverpool one season, if they have a **** one. But you know lack of investment past god know how many years means we won't be in the mix up there most likely. Hence why theres not much point including us in pointless articles on the bbc.

I mean only man utd or chelsea can trouble city really. Rest of them will be fighting over the scraps.

Very much a bugbear of mine. A little objectivity wouldn't go a miss.

I meant Liverpool. Haven't got a problem with City.

This threads about Liverpool being declared a 'rival of City' whilst we aren't.

When Man Utd couldn't win the League despite spending a 'fortune' every summer, it being touted as their year by the media, and pulling a full house week in week out, with fans from all over the country, we used to laugh at them.

The R/S are the latter day version.

now now ladies, lets not fight :P But really, lets stick to being "underdogs" it always helps. City, chelski and newcastle all underestimated us and we came out on top in the games that they thought we're easy.

Im becoming more and more in favour of Salary and or Wage caps tbh.

Footys getting more and more like buisness id love to see a bit of fairness coming back into the game.

Totally. Would require fifa to do it world wide however, and then each cap of each top league would be different to reflect the income tax of that country. Sadly not even being discussed despite clubs falling over money wise.

You prob couldnt do it with wages due to EU legislation, but id look at something like putting a 35 mill cap on transfers per calendar season i.e. the summer and winter window, regardless of outgoings.

I'm sure if they wanted to they could make a case for exception to EU. I mean the current situation for European football clubs is dire, with teams in Spain,Italy,Scotland and England famously being financially ****ed. It would require the will and the intelligence, it is a shame FIFA displays neither.

And well that would be good it one sense but if you have one with the other(being the wage cap) think it might screw over teams like ourselves who cant afford to keep up with a players demands. We'd get less for our player with that transfer cap.

Nah id have 25 mill regardless of outgoings, i.e. if you sold a player for 30 mill you could still only spend 25mill. I think this would reduce debt over all in the game. A salary cap would be challenged mate, it would go against EU rulings and they would win to. I think you have to keep a competitive edge to grow revenue in the game and its only right a chunk of what earned goes to the players, maybe a rule on wages in reagrd to something similiar to Financial Fair Play and organic revenue would by pass the EU regulation.
