Echoing what I sain in the other thread, his successful loan stint has ended. I hope he gets his chance in our gash midfield.

Moyes would see him train every day so would know if hes good enough/ready for the first team

You mean the same Moyes who stuck with Anichebe when he was badly gash (i say was because we haven't seen enough to know if he still is) and still plays Neville over Barkley every game ? Oh, and Cahill.

And Osman on the wing.

And Heitinga in midfield.

IMWT...

Back at Goodison after providing an assist on his final game for Tranmere at the weekend. Les Parry says he has been "brilliant" but that we need him as cover and that we'll be looking for a Championship club for him to pit his wits against. It sounds like we're developing him for the first team rather than seeing if he's worth keeping.

This lad will be a late bloomer, but worth it. My dad is mates with Ray Hall who has recently left his role at the academy and he told him that baxter is the top talent in the youth sides ahead of Barkley even, but due to both his physical stature and mentality would really need loan deals to realise his potential to build his confidence, I believe he'll spend another few months on loan at a championship side before the end of the season and we'll start seeing a lot more of him next year.

I really do hope so LT. Could be a creative spark along with Barkley. Our midfield may not be so bad after all.

If he could break in and play well, than Drenthe might not be as important. Right now, without Royston, we have no creativity.

EVERTON FC are set to offer forward Jose Baxter a new two-year contract, keeping him at Goodison until 2014.

The 20-year-old academy graduate did enough during an impressive loan spell at Tranmere Rovers last year to convince David Moyes he can still be a long-term part of his first team squad.

Baxter, who is from Litherland, joined the League One outfit in September 2011 and went on to score on his debut against Preston North End, with then Rovers boss Les Parry extending the Prenton Park loan on several occasions.

However, the former England under-17s international was recalled by Moyes in January, and went on to shine for Alan Stubbs’ reserve side as the second-string went on an unbeaten 13-game run to finish third in their league.

Baxter has been rewarded for his efforts with a place on the bench for recent first team games against Stoke City and Wolves in the Premier League, and is now ready to put pen to paper on his contract.

He had previously become Everton’s youngest ever senior player after making his professional bow on the opening day of the 2008/09 season as a substitute against Blackburn Rovers aged 16.

Baxter was then named in the Blues starting line-up to play West Brom at The Hawthorns, becoming the youngest Everton player ever to start a game, and in March 2009 signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract.

Now he will hope to follow in the path of Leon Osman, who also completed loan spells away from Goodison in the early part of his career before going on to establish himself as a senior player under Moyes.

Looks to be signing a new 2 year deal, will he ever come good?

Probably need him to sign so that when barclay goes we still have a prospect to look forward to one day seeing playing for us.
Unless he really is good in which case he'l be a gonnar too :@

2008 he scored that goal against Forest, around about the same time Rodwell put in a decent game.

Sh*te the pair of them.

Maybe he's thinkin of including him in more games next season, so where does that leave Vellios? Loan move perhaps?

Still here since Baxter has played on the right everytime i've seen him play...classic centre forward placement Moyles.

Doesnt Baxter play in the Cahill role for the reserves? I don't watch them but I've heard he usually plays behind the striker where he can influence play more

Great decision to keep him here as long as possible.

Gotta have some youngsters who only get a game when we have an injury crisis.
