I agree if he is as good as we are told the money clubs will start sniffing and a short contract means if he does a Rooney the fee will be minimal.

lol... It's the maximum allowed length for his age.

Rodwell initally signed a 2 year contract last year and people were saying the same thing. It's the maximum allowed length when you turn 17.

Great news, especially considering the growing rumours of that sewer rat Carragher trying to get him to sign for Le Merde.

Great news! Our youngest ever player to play or start a leuage game, clearly Moyesey thinks a lot of the lad, ive said it here many times what a great young team we have bubbleing under the surface.

The lads who have bee n given chances are a great advertisement to other young players that Everton is a great club to get and oppurtunity and if you have the ability a great club to trust in terms of your deelopment and your future career.

I don't think the contract length is that important at the moment.

2 and a half years but i can't see him really making many appearances this and much of next season. A few sub appearances here and there, ease him in gently.

Then if he does impress and look worth keeping we will extend and improve the deal.

I actually think we may see more of him now mate after he signed the contract tying him to the club professionaly.

Excellent news, good to finally get him signed up.

It'll be interesting to see which role he ends up playing, he can play right, left, centre and as a second striker. Haven't got a clue what his strongest position is.

I think this is just a case of protecting the clubs investment. I'm sure within the year he'll sign a new long term contract, and this is just to stop other clubs luring him away before that without us getting a fee.

He's only played once this season hasn't he and that was the opening day game against Blackburn wasn't it?

I don't think he will be used this season with so many potentially important games for us unless things get desperate again.

Next season yeah he will probably start to make a few more appearances.

Unless he really is the new Rooney haha.

Feel better about the length of the contract now, I thought players were able to sign whatever deals they wanted once they hit 17

Pretty sure he started at West Brom too
