Baines: We have no chemistry

Damn straight, Unsworth is our 6th highest premier league goal scorer, because he was the best pen taker of his generation.

Always thought defenders were best to take PK's .... usually weren't directly involved in th foul....heart rate lower / more composed....etc. Baines conversion rate was perfect before the only one he's ever missed v UTD .

The pens, didnt he miss one - like the first one in absolute ages and then other people started taking them? Apart from Rom can't think of a better pen taker. Free kicks, i don't have a clue why on earth he still isn't involved tbh.

He missed at Old Trafford after Hibbo was fouled in the box.

He took the next penno we got, at Sunderland and scored......but it was an awful penalty and the goalkeeper should gave saved it comfortably.

Then came Mirallasgate ans Baines hasn't taken a penno since.

Mind you, at his best I always felt more confident Baines taking a penalty than Rom.

Rom has scored a few which might just as easily have been saved.

So for no reason then? The chemistry is not there due to decisions like that. Players dont know their role and its down to the manager, he just doesnt like hearing it.

I don't know off the top of my head. I'm not convinced what you are saying is right anyway to be honest (not saying you are lying or anything either...)

Everything you are saying is just guesswork in terms of "chemistry" a word that nobody would have even used before this!

I don't think Martinez was thinking when he was talking about Baines "apologizing", even though Roberto thought his words were misinterpreted, nobody in their right mind would say such crap.

And if he did, he's completely lost it now and has to be sacked, how tf could you pick a fight with Leighton Baines? Is there a more intellegent and quiet footballer in the league? You should have people like him on your side, especially in the time like this.

This is the last straw for me, i don't even think that we should wait until the cup is over to sack him. Team spirit will only grow if he's sacked.

A-- He said Baines was misinterpreted
B -- He said Baines apologised for putting himself in a position to be misinterpreted.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that at all.

Seems like any small reason now to create mischief and bash the manager.

Becoming rather tedious actually with posts on most threads saying the exact same thing.

Baines is too old to play for us anyway, huh mate?

People are taking an issue with what our manager said because what Leighton said in that interview was factual and Martinez is trying to shut him up. And Baines is not some 22-yo who wants to leave this club as soon as a decent offer comes in, he should have a voice, he's one of the most respected members of the squad.

I had a look at this today and for Rom's first two pens last season (of the four he took) Baines was not on the pitch but was when Rom scored his third and fourth penalties. This season Barkley, Mirallas and Rom have all taken a penalty, none of which occurred with Baines on the pitch. so the big question what happens when we get a penalty and Baines is playing?

I think Rom has now been designated official penalty taker, Doug.

I'm sure you are right, even if I not sure it has been officially disclosed (maybe it has).

I remember RM getting himself tied up in knots when Mirallas grabbed the ball off Baines and said that Baines was still the club's penalty taker but Mirallas was feeling good about the situation (or something) and was entitled to take the ball off him!
