I for one hope Baines does sign, from what I seen of him last season he is a quality full back who is still learning and under DM's management can only get better.

I really think there is some mileage in this- Baines wants to leave Wigan, Sunderland are arguably a bigger club and he turns them down when we are rumoured to be looking at him. I think we have contacted the club about the player- that message has got to Baines and he is holding out for us.
I truly believe Baines will be an Everton player by the end of next week- v points on it?

I'm glad you feel that way too Mick. The 4.5 million offer just releases his clause so he can at least talk to us. Whelan probably will hold out for his total wish of 6 million but we may feel installments may be the way to go. If not with two years remaining Moyes probably has his man this winter or next summer. Unless Sven comes knocking. Wifes pregnant and wants desperately to stay in the area. Why didn't we get him a couple of years ago?

I rate Valente, think hes decent player but Baines would give us a back four with youth, pace and a desire to win.
