Somewhat like that anyway. The main point is I would rather have a player getting dirty on the field than polishing his boots on the sideline. But the jest is 2 million difference being made up somewhat on lesser wages. With that said Baines could offer Arteta and Cahill freedom they have perhaps lacked the last couple of years if they truely incorporate this diamond formation. At least Davey is up to the task of tinkering a little.

I was on a forum here in the States and a thread talking about Adu's transfer to Benfica. They posted some pictures of him training and right there next to him was Manny.

Some of the Portuguese posters were going on and on about how Manny is the next great thing.

I really wish we could have been able to get him to stay but 12M is 12M and if you got it, you got it. If you don't, you don't.

But I agree that if he was being shopped closer to 8M, then cough up the extra 2M/4M and get him vs. Baines.

If benfica were looking to capitalise, he will still be available in future. maybe someone else will move for him, maybe not. moyes waited 12 months to finally snag AJ, so its not beyond possibility manny will be back one day.

Well, if we sell Beattie for Baines, at least we have a better chance of scoring goals!
Fernandes return would be a dream. I think Baines coming in is a very good move, but to be serious about the Beattie situation, if he leaves, we will need to buy another striker.
