Baines pleads for club to stop selling best players

Goals aren't really relevant because of the pens, and because when a fullback scores it's usually a fluke and not indicative of their attacking input.

On top of that we generally look to use Baines more than United use Evra or Chelsea Cole, as we had/have less quality attacking players. That said anyone who's seen each player has to know that Baines can do things with a ball that Cole and Evra couldn't even dream about. Baines' crossing is sublime whereas Evra's in particular is just not noticeable -- in fact I'd argue that Hibbert last season was a better crosser of a ball than Patrice Evra.

Hibbert actually crossed a few balls last Season.

I was shocked.

I know we did ok on occasion last season without him, but that feller Baines is worth his weight in gold. He's consistently excellent. You simply dont get shut of players like him unless you're over a barrel. As stated above, I'm getting the awful feeling that Moyes may have been seduced into believeing that Baines is merely one way of approaching our attacking game and that he can go another way and it'll pay bigger dividends AND get cash in.

Personally I think what we did in Baines' absence should implore us to diversify our play, and look to use other players and other areas of the pitch. But we can do that without selling Baines! Just maybe, when he's on the pitch, don't take a Portugal/Ronaldo approach and say "give the ball to Baines" to everyone.

Keeping him AND opening up other attacking lines would be perfect. Let's hope it isn't one or the other.

I just can't imagine not seeing Baines running down the sidelines..... I don't want to ever not see that on another team

Seeing Arteta in an Arsenal shirt was painful, but seeing Baines in another shirt would be worse.

Arteta had given us his best years whereas Baines is in his pomp. On top of that he's a local lad and a blue, which adds to it. Also he is, in my opinion, the nicest, most respectable player I think I've ever seen play for us.

Couldn't agree more.

We dont need to sell him and he doesnt want to leave.

I see no problem here.

Fcking media scum love to drum up interest.

Yeah but just because we don't need to sell this summer doesn't mean that any profit made now couldn't be used for the next time we do need to sell, which is bound to be sometime soon.

I must admit Arteta wasn't as bad as baines would be because of the fact that he was declining in an Everton shirt and i was a bit painful to see him not play at his best and have no creativity. Still would have preferred him to go to a spanish club though.
