Bad ref decisions - for and against - season 2025/26

18/1/26 Aston Villa 0 Everton 1

VAR disallow O'Brien goal for Harrison interfering with play after being in an offside spot. Very harsh imho.
Case to be made for Beto to have a penalty - but no review.
Possibly got away witha couple of bookings.
Ref 7/10 VAR 0/10

I’m all for hammering crap officials but in my opinion:
It was offside as Armstrong jumped for the ball right in front of the defender with O’Brien - ideally HA would’ve known he was off and not gone for it then it should’ve stood
James Garner should’ve been booked twice - very lucky
Beto pen shout would’ve been incredibly soft, not sure it’s a foul for me

VAR didn’t disallow the goal, the call on the pitch was offside. The assistants flag was up

We might have been hard done by with the disallowed goal today, but we got away with a terrible call by the ref when Garner pushed the Villa player over on the edge of the area when on a yellow card.
Referee wouldn't be able to see the push from garner, and as it was outside the penalty area var couldn't intervene. But I would have expected the linesman to give that one. I guess villa don't get the same "special" attention than the sky top 6...yet
