Bad ref decisions - for and against - season 2025/26

I felt the referee was a little out of his depth in what was only his second premier league game, but we did stupid things that made him have to make a decision. It's stupidly and a lack of discipline from us, that's going to give us huge problem in the next few weeks

I thought he was having a decent game by Prem referee standards (that bar is incredibly low) and was sold down the river by a more experienced colleague.

Absolute joke, the ref looked out of his depth. You see more violent intent at every corner in the PL!
It was interesting watching RefWatch the other day. Bothroyd said that an incident in the box is treated differently than if it is outside the box, i.e. the tolerance is different. Gallagher then tore a strip out of Bothroyd and did his best to embarrass him by saying that his statement was nonsense.

Then I saw an incident in our game tonight where one of our players was chasing a Wolves player and put his arms on the player. Foul given. Fair enough. My point being that it was fairly minor but you see what happens at nearly every corner whereby defenders drag opposition players to the ground and a penalty is rarely given. They are given sometimes when the defender is not watching the ball at all. Indeed, sometimes they have the back to the ball.

Bothroyd was correct. Location on the pitch matters but Gallagher wasn't having it whatsoever.

Most players with long hair tie it up in a bun - the forward was backing into Keane that much he fell on his back ?
Keane a slight tug on his hair sending off was a joke imo

As far as I’m aware referees are specifically told that the threshold is higher for penalties than it is elsewhere.
