I think that there was a falling out of some sort with Moyes. Up til this week, Moyes has not said the most glowing of things about the Yak. I think that is why West Ham thought that they could get a quick, cut price deal on Moyes wishing to get rid. Wrong move. But it clearly looks on the way up for Yak.

Yaks miss at the world cup was probably the worst miss ever....

he'll never live that down, poor git.

I reckon he still has fire in his belly, amongst other Pasty / Greggs based snacks...

Would love to see him get to the same form he used to be in when he was putting in 20+ a season.. SHould at least get a chance against Newcastle imo.. Him for finishing with Beckford up there for pace

Intresting as i thought massively tapped up:

“He’s fit but maybe I’m not sure how fit in terms of completing 90 minutes. He’s getting there. His mind is better and his focus is much better, and so is his training so we’re hoping we’re going to get much more from him.

“I think he probably felt that you know (he wanted a change), and the year before we had competition for places and he was maybe thinking that he wasn’t guaranteed a start here all the time.

“It’s part of the game. He’s under contract and he couldn’t have left without our say so and we play a part in that as well.

“We said that we thought Yak was worth was more than we were offered.

“We were offered £6m and the next offer was £5m so we made a decision to say no.

“His goal-scoring record in the Premier League makes him worth more than that and we made a decision that we were not going to let him go for that price. It was simple as that.”

Moyes, while privately being baffled at West Ham’s unusual bargaining tactic, is glad he was able to keep hold of the former Middlesbrough striker.

He said: “He did well last week.

“He came on with 15/20 remaining and he set Ossie up and at that stage we were camped in and around their box and I think that suited him.

“He would have liked the opportunity to have left.

“But we never received an offer that was enough for him, and because of that he’s never really got himself in the right frame of mind but I see now that he has.

“Maybe it’s down to the window being shut and he’s back here and getting himself back in contention to play.

“I’ve never had any problems with Yak, I’ve always had a good relationship with him.”

Some straight forward things there from Moyes (Neilers quote)

When he's playing Yak can be a real weapon (on the pitch).

He's just got one of those characters that's quite hard to manage - performance wise.

I think the Yak will play at least 45 min today if he's fit.

It was something last week that we saw a DRAMATIC improvement in Pienaar's form to for me.

Only DRAMATIC thing is that he's more consistent than 90% teammates - very good at Villa Park and very good again week after against MU.

Nah lad. He's been poor all summer. Major poor. Poor world cup. Poor preseason.

Last week was big jump in his performance really.

Strongly disagree (bar World Cup). Of course he has his ups and downs, like all other players, but he is always playing the same hard way, I wish all the players who are in contract struggle would be similar to him regarding performance on the pitch.

I watched him preseason and he was woeful whether that be fitness or whatever related. Last saturday was the first time this season i've looked at him and thought he's a decent player.
