Atmospheres at Goodison this Season

The premier league has become so lopsided and skewed in favour of certain teams that it's hardly surprising atmospheres suffer. I find it hard to get up for games when it feels like we are just making up numbers.

It wasn't ideal fighting relegation but at least it felt like we had something to play for, how often have we been able to say that, normally seasons over by mid Jan when we get laced out of the FA Cup.

'Gland Treatments.' lol

That game finished 3-3 and the players did respond to the crowd, this was against the famous Busby Babes, there was a few local lads in Everton’s team alongside players who had been at Everton for years and had an affinity to the club and showed that they cared for the team, and Everton supporters have always made the team upgrade their performances throughout the years I have followed the team, a very long time.

These last couple of months the fans, especially the young ones, who haven’t even smelled the slightest bit of success, have garnered the fantastic support we have all witnessed because they realised the plight the club was in and if we went down we would be there for a long period and even sink lower.

I think we would have done this no matter who the manager was, except Mr. Benitez, speaking for myself I never went and roared my head for Frank Lampard but for the club I cherish EVERTON andI think we will be needed even more so next season because of the state the club has sunk to, due to the neglect People running the club have allowed us to be in this very poor position unless they are removed from the club.

What I've loved about the last few games was that generally, the whole crowd was pro Everton rather than anti whoever our opponents were, yet we still made it intimidating for them. I'd love that to continue next season, especially against Liverpool for example. Knock all that "always the victim/murderers" stuff on the head, and make it all about us instead, don't make them feel significant in any way. They crave all that stuff anyway, gives them their chance to be outraged.

I love the ooooo. I also love the retro songs coming back - Goodison Gang particularly. Now all we need is a plain blue shirt and white shorts, some white Alan Ball boots, and rattles placed on every seat for the opening game of the season.
But absolutely, no way, those silly bloody 'happy clappers' that Leicester have. They are probably the most annoying and 'tourist-y' creation ever introduced into footie stadiums.

The change in atmosphere transformed our season and kept us up.

Under Benitez we got hammered by Watford at home and under Frank we beat Chelsea at home, yet the personnel involved were the same… aside from the fact that we no longer had Digne or James when we played Chelsea under Frank.

Although Frank is a better motivator than Rafael, the big difference was the crowd.

Big Nev said the other day: never underestimate how effective the crowd can be in lifting players psychologically and helping them to give their all.

The 12th man aphorism is so very true. Remember what Howard Kendall said about the Street End sucking the ball into the net against Bayern?
Brilliant post. Concur completely.

Having been a STH for 10 yrs Ive seen better teams and I've seen some top atmospheres ,a few that stand out Arsenal (3-0 Bobby Manager) and City 4-0 (Koeman).

However this last 3 months I think at least 3 of home games surpassed them all in recent history.

Leeds
Chelsea
Palace

That doesn't include United and late winner v Newcastle.
From a Leeds perspective your ground was noisy that day. Glad you survived can't stand Burnley and the way they played football under Dyche. Stand out game for me watching football through the years is the Bayern Munich game. Managed to get tickets 3 Leeds fans and my mum in the Park End upper tier. Leeds atmosphere has been up there this year even where we sit in the old codgers stand the noise is unreal. Doesn't matter how [Poor language removed] you are at the time its best to back the team, no doubt . The pressure on the players in the PL is unbelievable. Best atmosphere , Leeds v Man City 1977, FA CUP,leeds v Stuttgart 1992 , Everton V Munich Milton Keynes v Leeds when we took 9000, Division 3, thats when you know you're [Poor language removed]. On wards and upwards.
