I was at the Wimbledon 94 game but I have never seen a turn out like palace ,our fans have woken up and I just hope this passion carries on forever, truly amazing .Having been a STH for 10 yrs Ive seen better teams and I've seen some top atmospheres ,a few that stand out Arsenal (3-0 Bobby Manager) and City 4-0 (Koeman).
However this last 3 months I think at least 3 of home games surpassed them all in recent history.
Leeds
Chelsea
Palace
That doesn't include United and late winner v Newcastle.
But the team still has to do it's part. Imagine if we were a truly and constantly competitive outfit. Wow!I was at the Wimbledon 94 game but I have never seen a turn out like palace ,our fans have woken up and I just hope this passion carries on forever, truly amazing .
The change in atmosphere transformed our season and kept us up.
Under Benitez we got hammered by Watford at home and under Frank we beat Chelsea at home, yet the personnel involved were the same… aside from the fact that we no longer had Digne or James when we played Chelsea under Frank.
Although Frank is a better motivator than Rafael, the big difference was the crowd.
Big Nev said the other day: never underestimate how effective the crowd can be in lifting players psychologically and helping them to give their all.
The 12th man aphorism is so very true. Remember what Howard Kendall said about the Street End sucking the ball into the net against Bayern?
PhilistineI’m not in to the ‘woooo’ in Spirit of the Blues. It should be banned and replaced with an instrumental.
I think credit to Lampard because he united the fans and the players. I think at times, even as fans, we forgot why we support the club especially when Benitez in the realm and the players almost feel disconnected from us.
I hope the atmosphere at home will always be such, although it could be a tall order.
