Atmosphere at Goodison

I can see them bringing about 200. Our away support is top draw in terms of numbers but where not that loud away from home during the game either. Did you hear United at Southampton last week? None stop vocal support during the match, im sure the players react to that positively just like it has a negative effect on them when were on there backs.
I think I read they've laid on free coach travel so maybe 300;):)

I don't get to too many home games but all the times I've been it's not been very loud. Our away support is much louder. Sometimes it dies down like at Spurs the other week we were non-stop for the first 20 minutes then we only sang about five songs the whole match after that. Probably doesn't help when you've got Barry trying his best to grab and assists for the Spurs goal though.

That United chanting is moronic and just becomes a din.

People who spend a whole game chanting things like "van Gaal's red and white army" lend nowt to the atmosphere nor would they lift the players, IMO.

When Goodison is at its best and rocking, the chants are short and loud.....and the crowd creates a wall of sound which drives the players on.

Great roars rise round the Old Lady as the team pours forward.

You can't hear yourself think.

Those Crystal Palace "ultras" ruin any televised game for me......they keep up the same mindless, repetitive bollox no matter what the situation......the team has a free kick on the edge of the box, no one is concentrating on the game, they are too busy jumping up and down, trying to get themselves noticed.

It is especially bad when there is a corner over by where they stand....that is when they know the cameras are deffo pointing in their direction so they pump it up even when it us the opposition taking the corner.

Our away fans are great.....always have been....always will be.

Those young lids today are keeping up the proud traditions of the 70s', 80s and 90s.

And they ain't seen us win things or have epics like the Villa Trilogy or the Sheffield Wednesday and Boro replay sagas in which to hone their skills.

Us fans who just go at Home are quiet most the time these days but as has been said before, the football on show at Goodison this season for all but the first 70 minutes of Arsenal could be used as a cure for insomnia.

Serious (if daft) question, to everyone really: how do chants get going? By the time I hear them (usually sit around level with the stairs in the Lower Gwladys) there's always plenty of voices involved, so it's just like they've always been there. As soon as I hear them I'll join in, but wouldn't try to start one for fear of looking a complete muppet.

Will happily yell all sorts in encouragement like, chants just seem like a thing Someone Else gets going.

You just start singing as loud as you can, and then you have to rely on people joining in with you. So the important thing is the people around you are the type to sing. If anyone says it's spontaneous and it just happens, they clearly have never started a chant off, fans make it happen.

I said it on another thread but if we took 14 fans equivalent to Krasnodars and they done exactly what they done at the back of GT4 it would really kick the atmosphere on.

Spot on mate, the Old Lady is still the closest to a proper old school football ground not just in architecture but in terms of atmosphere that you will find anywhere in the country.

Surely you remember us doing that managers Blue and White Army chant?? We done it for years, sometimes in the away end it would build up getting louder and louder, faster and faster building up a great momentum. One away in particular v Tottenham it was getting that frenzied that the safety officer got the pa to tell everyone to stay behind. Ace chant that.

the atmosphere is getting worse each week. not helped by the teams performance like. only time it begins to get better is when were losing or chasing a goal with 15 mins to go.
