If it goes the other way, and we lose - my god, the uproar that'll ensue.

Yup, "Everton have found their level - league 2"

*shudder*

If your rivals pre-season is going amazingly: the results don't matter, it's all about fitness.

If your pre-season is going amazingly: wow this is a great barometer of how the team will play this season, "gonna win the league".

If your rivals pre-season is going terribly: can't even get passed lower league opposition - definitely getting relegated.

If your pre-season is going terrible: These games don't matter - as long as they help build fitness for the league.

People can interpret whatever they want out of this stuff - it's pure nonsense.

Embarrassing game for both sides....

They just shouldn't have broadcast it - there's nothing embarrassing about the game. They hosted us for a training camp - having a friendly seems fairly standard... it just shouldn't have been broadcast (but don't ya know if it wasn't people would be complaining about the failure of the club to service the fans)..

A few years back when Real Madrid had a training camp in Kildare in Ireland they played a game against a local amateur team as preparation and the scoreline was what you would imagine... they weren't ridiculed for this and nobody was going around saying it was embarrassing.

The reaction to this game is a great illustration of how sensitive our fan-base are to everything at the moment - no wonder other football fans see us as easy targets at the moment, we're losing the plot over everything - must be great fun for them and their 'banter'.

People wanted to watch it. We shouldn’t have broadcast it because the other team was crap?

Where do you draw the line? Who decides if a team is too crap to be broadcast? You?

As others have said a lot of people wanted to see the team perform in the pre-season games. The results don't matter. And I'm sure the Austrians were all up for the game regardless of the result - in fact I don't think they looked too despondent or surprised. As for easing off at half time, well all the players bar one were substituted at half time so it wouldn't have been right (or probably even possible) to tell these players to not try to score.

Stop your whingeing moaners lollol
