Biden just came out in favor of prosecuting the contempt of Congress cases.

That's the second time he's surprised me so far. The vaccine mandate was a shocker, coming from a man who was such a weathervane in the Senate that he landed more or less dead on the party median for voting record in every Congress he served in.

This was much less of a surprise, in the context of how he more or less rewrote the playbook for Supreme Court nominations. This is an issue where he can reasonably play hardball. One wonders how much events in Essex emboldened him. What happened today makes the safety narrative a lot more salient.

This GOP respect nothing apart from strength, and they are going to label him as a Commie Marxist Paedo Rapist Traitor anyway.
 
My read of US v. Nixon would be that it only applies in the case of national security concerns, which means that it's irrelevant to this set of circumstances.

That one was an 8-0, with Rehnquist recusing because he would have been ruling on his former boss. I don't think my take is at all controversial.

Yes! He has lied about so many things that it is not surprising he is part of the Republican Party. It is so frustrating to be represented by him because he definitely doesn’t represent the values of my progressive city. Republicans and their gerrymandering have made sure that voters like myself have not real representation in Congress. But some Democrats still don’t think we need a voting rights act :(
