Just about every big US city has massive homelessness problems. Think they basically cleared out Manhattan mind but no idea where they put everyone.
Downtown LA in 2005 I’d still say is the most shocking and impoverished place I’ve ever been and I’ve been to many supposed 3rd world countries. Vancouver was extremely bad then also but things may have changed somewhat since.

Every UK city has a problem with homelessness too. It's a damning indictment on any 'civilised' nation that people can end up without the security of a home so easily.
