Did these people think they'd get away with it, in this age of high quality mobile phone cameras and microphones?
Yep. Sadly, the homeless are one of the lasting memories I have of DC.
The missus' family had booked a Segway tour and straight after the safety talk they have you practicing in the park across the street which is filled with homeless people. That was a very weird experience and not one I'd like to repeat. Couldn't help feeling like a tit and they must see that every day.
TBF Ottawa is the same here, people go where the support is. German tour books advise people to avoid downtown because of it.

Just about every big US city has massive homelessness problems. Think they basically cleared out Manhattan mind but no idea where they put everyone.Yep. Sadly, the homeless are one of the lasting memories I have of DC.

Especially now she has been specifically named, i'd say a lot. Surely they have CCTV so they can investigate all the people and any views or links to right wing extremism. How much trouble is Lauren Boebert likely to be in?
The market is specifically the area the Germans advise avoiding. As a local, i don't go drinking down there and haven't since I was on the pull in my early 20s because its mostly uni bars. That's too bad, because I love Ottawa's downtown, especially round the Byward Market. Took my visiting cousin from Austria there in November 2017 and we had a blast -- went to the Laff, had some of the best fish and chips ever at Patty Boland's (so sad to hear it's closed for good), took in a Senators game (the bus ride to and from the Senate pub was something else).
Yeah sorry for derailing the thread.Just about every big US city has massive homelessness problems. Think they basically cleared out Manhattan mind but no idea where they put everyone.
Downtown LA in 2005 I’d still say is the most shocking and impoverished place I’ve ever been and I’ve been to many supposed 3rd world countries. Vancouver was extremely bad then also but things may have changed somewhat since.
Anyways. Why are these guys and girls all dressed in their full army gear for a peaceful protest? lol

Even if they dont, apparently staff were told that there were to be no visitors

Patty Bolands was ace but like a lot of the good independent bars they've been priced out and now companies that own bars and restaurants own the whole block and push the small guys out. Ruined the variety but they're making a killing rotating the same 4 house bands playing covers. That Sens stadium is what it would have been like for us if the Kirkby move went through.
If you're ever back in town Elgin street is much nicer bar hopping.
