So I won $50 off my pal. He was convinced 20+ Republicans in the House would vote for impeachment. I said 8-10, max.

He was gobsmacked. I reminded him to never count on this generation of Republicans to do what is best for the country. They will always disappoint.

I think this is a symptom of the system in place. Cowardly Republicans in the HoR that want Trump impeached can happily vote against it knowing this stage will succeed regardless as the Dems have the majority needed. So to the Trumpers in their states they aren't seen as traitors but they might still get the outcome they want when it comes to the Senate trial. This is especially pertinent in this situation as there seems to be a genuine threat to life for people going against the will of the "Patriots".

Now obviously a hell of a lot of the Republicans probably don't want him impeached anyway but in this case it didn't technically matter.

The big test will of course be the Senate trial as that is when some of them need to stand up and be counted. I fear after his speech today the chance has gone as the ones on the fence will see that as enough to justify not finding him guilty (even though it should have no bearing at all).

I knew that this insurrection must have been planned given how quickly the mob found the Democrat's office in the maze that it is Capitol Hill. But this video and others are the ultimate proof.
