I think this is a good signing for where we are at right now. Yes, cost vs age vs injury recovery time is always a gamble, but with age comes experience, you need this in a CB. Less likely to panic and more likely to keep the rest of the defence calm and organised. He has good leadership qualities, and that alone will be a plus for us over last season's headless chicken display.

Now it's just a Mata of signing Juan or two creative play makers and we will be set .

100% agree. He's exactly what we need in what will be a difficult transition period as the players shake off the Martinez effect and we bring in half a new squad (hopefully).

A quality defender and character for the team at a sensible price.
