Agreed and why people keep saying that Stones is England's future captain is beyond me. He's a real talent (and will almost certainly be a permanent fixture for England) but he's a wet blanket. Williams is 10x the captain either of those could ever hope to be.
When williams plays half a dozen games for us mate! everyone will go collectively "ahhhh! So THATs what a captain does?!!!"

We haven't had a player with a pair of cajones as captain since Dave Watson. Williams will take care of that absence.

think this is a great signing dont like the thought of new signing captain, either baines or barry or coleman for me

And what about if/when he gets injured, david?

He's 32 and he'll be on a major wedge. I guarantee he won't be in any rush to get back into the side when a little niggle turns into a full-blown ACL (or what have ya). Injuries take time to heal the older one gets.

Then we're back to square 1.

It's too much money on too old a player.

Seems his agent's gonna give a running commentary on events..

I'm not surprised...gotta keep his hands busy, or they might go alight through all that friction...

Mate, I'd take that chance over having another season with the CB pairings we've had to endure of late.

The bed wetters will be rewarded with clean sheets.
