So we are signing a 2nd/3rd choice keeper.

Everton are reportedly in talks to sign goalkeeper Artur Boruc.

Boruc is a free agent after leaving Fiorentina and could join Everton to provide competition for Tim Howard.
The 32 year old is looking for a a new club after departing the Viola earlier this year and would be interested in a move to the Premier League.

Boruc spent five years at Celtic before leaving the club in 2010. The sometimes controversial figure is said to be talking to Everton and a couple of other clubs in England.

David Moyes has Jan Mucha as back up for Tim Howard but the Slovakian stopper has looked shaky between the sticks when he has featured. The Toffees allowed another back-up ‘keeper Marcus Hanhemann to leave earlier this summer so David Moyes could bring in Boruc to bolster his options.

Any potential move for the Polish international would be allowed outside the transfer window as he is a free agent.

Howard needs some competition, that's for sure. It's unhealthy he can play and make a few mistakes and never face a challenge.

Straight into the first team.

Wouldn't go that far. Even though he's prone to a 30 yard howler, Howard is still a damn good keeper.

How much of Boruc have you seen in the last three years to know he's worth going straight into the team? He was ace at Celtic but even he succumbed to a few howlers from time to time.

Not much to be honest, which is a fair point, though i heard he was No1 for them last season.

I dont rate Howard never have, with the Butland link and now this seems we're looking at alternatives.

Howard or Boruc at their best though id go for Boruc at least give him a run - cant see it like. Keepers only really come into their peaks at 28 -35.

Boruc was prone to the odd mistake in his time at Celtic and made a few howlers at international level aswell, however he's a very good keeper and much better back up than what we've got. I'd be happy with signing him.

Boruc at his best, he was unreal. It's no coincidence that Celtic had their best run in the Champions League (in the modern era) when he had his best season.
