If he was negotiating to go to QPR before Julio Cesar was chosen, I'd guess he was looking for first team action and a hefty wage. He's probably turned away a new contract at Fiorentina down for those reasons.

Regardless of Boruc, we need a serious challenger in to keep Howard on is toes.

Boruc is an excellent keeper with 2 problems: 1) he is prone to the odd mistake 2) he has disciplinary issues, gets sent off regularly etc

If there is one thing i know we, and the premier league as a whole needs, it's more polish keepers.
Plus we definetly need a replacement for our third choice goalie.
Extravagant, isn't it?

I agree that Howard needs competition, just it will never ever happen under David Moyes. Just like Neville or Jagielka or Cahill were playing week and week out. Mucha is good enough keeper to challenge Howard in situations when he had a few poor games in a row (like at beginning of 2010/2011 season), just needs a coach who will judge players on form and not on names.

Boruc at his best was class above Howard, problem is that he is far from his best form. Plus he is a bomb waiting to explode, especially when he would be on the bench. And it would be a quite expensive bomb.

Just don't see any sense with signing him.
