Perhaps I miss took the point, in terms of who is the most conditioned athlete Howard is but then he's had every opportunity, in terms of who had the most and made the best of their ability there is no real debate!

Nevs natural ability despite the lack of modern techniques was sublime!

Tbf here I think many here are remembering him at the end of his career, for the majority of his Everton career he was in that context as fit and agile as I've ever seen Howard, he was a total keeper, his game was very well rounded! Weekly I saw him pull of saves that just weren't possible, his agility at his peak is as good as anything modern for me, keepers weren't given the protection they are now either! I think this whole ball thing is a bit of falicey as well!

Neville Southall has a legit claim to have been the greatest goalkeeper of all time. Howard isn't even the best Yank. It makes no odds who's the best athlete, all that matters is who can have the biggest impact on the game. Big Nige was also a great goalkeep IMO and pisses all over Howard in every sense. I've never seen either of them two come out for a cross or corner with thier eyes shut.

Thats nonsense saying Southall wouldnt be as good in this age. Look at Martyn, when did he ever cock up and he was playing with the new style footballs. Neville was a one off and would be just as good now as he was then.

His weaker athleticism is almost irrelevant as he was a far superior keeper in every way.

I dont see how he was weaker in that sense. He came out and took out defenders and strikers alike in a time when forwards could get away with being more physical.

Reported today that we have given him a trial, dont know if this has just passed me by or if has just been announced. Anyway hope he does well.

He was a great goalkeeper in Glasgow, but a bit of a wind up merchant with the other half. If he got the chance he would wind up the RS at every turn and sometimes go a over the top.. I would still take him as back up..

Is better than Mucha, polish keepers tend to be quite good too, I think we'll sign him on a contract untill end of the season.

If he had a trial yesterday and he was in the tunnel before todays game, then you would imagine that some deal is on the cards. Cant come quick enough in my opinion, Howard is just making too many mistakes and needs to be dropped for a couple of games to find his focus again.

There was a picture up of him on twitter at the top of the steps with one or two everton officials, and someone also said they met him at the ground tonight.
