the guy who created passing attacking attractive football

the guy who created the invincibles

the guy who brought in the likes of henry, bergkamp, pires, ljumberg, viera, Campbell, seaman, fabregas, parlour et all

1 hundred million percent yes
Then they got a new stadium and interest payments and the rot set in...Can't see him doing it all over again
Technical consultant to the new DoF...well maybe

He’s leaving An arsenal team fighting it out with Burnley for sixth miles from the top four whilst the fans have turned on him and are voting with their feet by not turning up at the stadium . If anything it looks like that after a great career football has moved on and he hasn’t leaving him behind , meaning he’ll almost certainly be a target for us.

Wenger has been an incredible manager and is probably still better than we’ve had for years but surely we need to be looking forward as a club .

Right now i'd rather be fighting it out with Burnley for 6th than fighting Newcastle, Brighton Watford, et al for tenth.

As for his age, he's going to be sat in the dugout, NOT playing on the right wing.

He plays the type of football many on here have been crying out for, for years.

We all yearn for the School of Science, well this guys " gets it" .

Wenger to Everton? IMO its a no brainer. And get Arteta in as his understudy, ready to take the wings in a couple of years time.

Thinking out loud here.

Wenger as a manager is washed up, never going to compete with the big boys again hence him leaving. I don't expect him to be succesful anywhere else.

Offering him a job here however could be beneficial to us. Give him 2 years and let him organise the club. I don't expect in that time to turn into title contenders but give him a couple of years to bring some better team players in, organise behind the scenes and get the youth set ups running more efficiently and if he does well then extend his stay.

He wouldn't be my first choice but there is lots of benefit to having him here if we as fans are willing to accept a long term plan and the bigger picture.

Mosh is a fan. I can see it happening.

He would be reinvigorated here, with fresh determination to prove the doubters wrong. That's a very strong motivator.

I can see him rebuilding the team into a fast paced passing style of play, how terrible.

I don't think his age would be a problem. Jupp Heynckes is 72 and Roy Hodgson is 70, besides age is relevant, were not asking him to play in midfield.

It would be a solid foundation to start our future in the new stadium.

It may even result in Usmanov eventually following him here.

While I was initially favouring a European manager in the Fonseca mould, and would still be happy to see this happen, the latest developments regarding Wenger have opened a possible opportunity to acquire a Proven top 6 Manager.

I'm struggling to see a downside.

Bringing in Wenger and his people really can only be beneficial to Everton. Certainly better than a load of Wigan backroom staff coming in, or the jobs for the boys crap of Sammy Lee and Craig Shakespeare.

Warming to this idea a lot.

I look at this from 2 ways.

He is on a different planet to big Sam, he would try and get us playing good football, he knows how to get a team consistently in the top 4 (albeit not for the last 2 years), he knows how to compete for trophies (although had a major dry spell in the middle of his tenure), he is very well respected by players and DOF's alike who would love to come and work with him.

However I would have some major reservations if he did become our new manager. First and foremost I reject the notion that a ticket of Wenger and a younger coach to bring through would be some kind of dream match. Steve Bould has been his number 2 for a long time now, he has shown zero progression and had no impact on Arsenal's defence which is what he was brought in to improve. Maybe Bould is not a good coach but there have been suggestions that Wenger only allows him to have a minimal impact.

Wenger has also got a very poor record in the transfer market in recent years, obviously with a few notable exceptions. Defenders in particular seem to be a major problem for him to identify, Laurent Koscielny is probably the only good centre half Wenger has signed since Sol Campbell. With our back 4 ageing rapidly and several of them needing replacing this summer, a World Cup year, I don't have the confidence in Wenger to build us a defence.

Getting the maximum out of his current Arsenal squad has been a major criticism levelled against Wenger for a while now. For big games his players go missing and have suffered several hidings in the last few years, including a few thrashings at Anfield. With such an unprofessional group of players here now, would Wenger be the right man to get them motivated and firing on all cylinders?

Finally there is the question of transition. I have seen a few posters say that Wenger in for 2 years would help us with a transition phase but I would argue what transition? We seem to have been in transition ever since Moyes left. We tried the good football, ultra positive approach under Martinez; started brilliantly but it didn't work. We transitioned to the pragmatic and realistic approach of Koeman; decent start, lost our best player and the club fell off a cliff.

What we need now is a young manager, hungry for success with fresh ideas who wants to come in here with a plan to get us to compete with the rich clubs, fix our away record (check out Arsenal's away record), modernise our squad a get a clear transfer policy in place. Is Arsene Wenger the guy to do all of that?

Not for me.
