Yes, Armstrong played as an attacking midfielder in a trio with Garner & KDH is better than Gana in this weird press whenever you feel like role.

I’d play a RB at RB. It’s unfortunate that Patterson is the best available but at least he can play the position without limiting our ability to overlap on the right wing or pull our most important midfielder out of position.

You’re giving these managers too much credit. The only thing separating them from us common folk is they had the good fortune of being in the right place at the right time, and with good relationships with the right people.

Given the same opportunities over the last 30 years I’m certain you’d do a comparable job to Moyes.

Stick to netball and rounders lad.

Yeah. Bit painful. Creditable and at the same time exposed all our long term flaws!

No FBs to help counter, garner out of position, over run in midfield.

And none of our expensive summer business on the pitch until 85 minute, just in time to concede.
The system was heavily reliant on the shape and he dithered it away . The changes were mysterious.

I was a 4 year starter in central midfield at university, but whether or not I have a deep routed tactical understanding is extremely subjective, and self-admittedly uncertain.

I would obviously argue in opposition of that being among the positive performances the boys have had this season.
A 4 year starter. Right.

Start with Garner in Midfield.

Bring in Armstrong in for Gueye, and swap his position with KDH.

Bring in George for McNeil and swap wings with Ndiaye.
Thought Gueye and Villa Tim were outstanding today mate, would have been the wrong decision to have left either of them out, I would normally agree with you about not shifting Garner to right back, however, I don't think Moyes had a better option today.

Moyes is cursed at Arsenal. Remember when Pienaar scored that dink in the snow in the 90th minute and they immediately went up the other end and equalised.
I remember Jonathan Pearce giving it the Everton have won it treatment even though there were a good ten minutes left to play.
