Are we too honest?

It is true, and it's been the same for years. Our players sometimes go down a bit easy but we're the last of the Corinthians in other respects eg we don't roll around when the subject of bad challenges, we don't continually harass the officials, we don't challenge when the opposition take free kicks yards in advance of where the offence occurred, we don't copy the opposition in taking free kicks ahead of where the offence occurred etc etc

We do do both those things.

What we don't do is waste time. You watch any other Premier league team and if they're 1-0 with 20 minutes to go they'll kill 10 of them with time wasting and feigning injuries. We have never done that be it under Roberto or Moyes.

I couldn't agree more. I don't want to appear "Corinthian" but to win by cheating is worthless.
Bobby said Chelsea used every trick in the book against us , well they win things and I think we should be the same, they and and winging Arsenal and the [swear word deleted] with their cheating sewer rat are still the media darlings and we don't get any kudos for being nice! we are going to end up being the West Ham MK 2 the team that everyone used to love playing against because they played nice football but we would always walk away with the points.

I think the idea that we stick to fair play is a myth we tell ourselves to make us feel better about not winning stuff, tbh.

I don't think it's actually true.

can't really remember an everton player diving to win a penalty like.

i think we are one of the nicest teams tbh, i mean we have a couple who go down a bit too easily imo, but pretty much all the time it's when there's contact and it's sad but it's the way the game has gone, if you don't go down, you very very rarely get the foul.

i said a few weeks back, it is a trait of the "bigger" teams in the division that when they're under the cosh i.e. losing or drawing a game they're expected to win, they do revert to cheating for the last 20 mins.

it's a really sad way that the game is going, they have more resources than the others in the league and when they're being outdone, they can't trust their own ability to dig themselves out of a hole.

refs probably do see us as an easier target because we don't have players like GBH gobbing in their ear every 5 mins. have no idea why most refs 1) put up with it and 2) cave into such people. if it were me i'd do the opposite.

the big boys win at all cost -
we only take legal wins - that costs us about 10 points a season - but so be it -
we are not wrong we are only naïve -
in the real world run by money people the winner takes all - sad to say
it should be sorted out from the top but never will be - the big 6 milk the sad state of affairs -
they are all against using technology more extensively -
if you want to find the root of all evil - just follow the money trail

Good word and you've reminded me of another point. Other teams 'manage the game' better than us by time-wasting and running the ball into the corner, whereas we carry on looking for another goal.

Totally agree. People need to question why technology is being resisted, and understand that decisions don't even out over 40 games. Statistically they just might over 4000 games, but that would depend on them resulting from chance rather than pressure, psychology, influence and corruption.
