Are we too honest?

Martinez accused Chelsea of using "every trick in the book" but, if the top teams are going to do whatever it takes to gain a competitive edge, and we're going to stick to fair play, aren't we putting ourselves at a disadvantage?

We're just not as good as it as the prime snides of the division. They get peno's that win them games, we do Phil Neville'esque acts of total embarrassment.

I think the idea that we stick to fair play is a myth we tell ourselves to make us feel better about not winning stuff, tbh.

I don't think it's actually true.

Where is your Avatar btw mate?

And yeah, everyone does it, just some more than others.

I think we don't get away with the same amount as some of those around us do. I think we are also yet to truly shake our industrious clogger status off.

I suppose diving to win a penalty is the ultimate measure. Ramires and Young have definitely done it. How about City and Arsenal?

I couldn't believe that Jonathan Pearce said on MOTD2 that Skrtel's bear hug on Bony was never a penalty. He's been cheating from set-pieces all season and should have been penalised much more often.

Agree, given the number of free kicks in dangerous places Pienaar alone has won, don't think we can complain too much about the Ramires one. His dive against Villa (?) was different though and we aren't usually as blatant/skilled as those types.

Pearce is a well known RS (there's a surprise, a RS TV commentator).

It is true, and it's been the same for years. Our players sometimes go down a bit easy but we're the last of the Corinthians in other respects eg we don't roll around when the subject of bad challenges, we don't continually harass the officials, we don't challenge when the opposition take free kicks yards in advance of where the offence occurred, we don't copy the opposition in taking free kicks ahead of where the offence occurred etc etc
