Are the hipster element of the fanbase holding us back?

Everything. Nah it was just an excuse for me to have a moan at the parts of the fanbase that seem to enjoy us losing.
Enjoyed the read, but don't think what your describing are 'hipsters'. Don't think a hipster would let off a pyro. Or be within 50 yards of one. And beards, you forgot beards. Why has everyone got a beard? Obviously not everyone, but you know what I mean.

Personally I think the fans who still think we are a big club, can sign world class players and could be winning trophy’s at any given moment are more embarrassing.

What is this drivel...

Don't know a single 'hipster' Evertonian that hates Tom Davies or doesn't want us to be succesful.

Also, its all the old farts in the Gwladys moaning at people to sit down that result in a [Poor language removed] atmosphere. The only people singing at our games these days are the young lads.

Are you having a midlife crisis and getting annoyed at all the young lads without beer bellys having a good time?

HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA

What an awful thread. If you're calling people hipsters, you are the very essence of being a hipster yourself.

:bye:

Bit of fun, but I’ve long been of the opinion they’re not healthy for Everton. Let me describe the profile:

16-36, will make out that any Everton player from the late 90s was better than any player from the Moyes era (despite most of them probably not even remembering the 90s). Andrei Kanchelksis is their idol and adorns their bedroom walls next to players from 90s Serie A teams.

They have a season ticket but genuinely resent home games, they turn up in a 90s Everton kit or a current away kit nearly always underneath a hoodie even in hot weather and stand there for the majority of the game with their arms folded in slight disappointment as though they’re above the whole idea of Everton at home with 40,000 other plebs. They will scowl at anyone who makes any sort of noise be it cheering, singing or booing as they regard all of this as kopite behaviour.

Oddly though they seem to have a strange fondness for that lot over the park and seem to revel in the idea that bigging them up makes them a better blue somehow. They’ll argue with you that Salah is the best in the world, they deserved to win in Kiev, and that they’ll challenge next season for no reason other than to be weird and hipster.

They loved Ross Barkley but hate Tom Davies (no idea why, he probably would be one of them if he wasnt playing). They won’t hear a word against Leighton Baines or Fellaini.

They live for certain away games where they’ll go and sing songs about certain players that they like (Cenk Tosun being the new hipster favourite) but none really about Everton, then will let off a flare for an equaliser in a 1-1 at Stoke as though we’ve won a cup or something. That one moment will be enough ‘Everton’ to sustain them for the whole season and will feature on all their social media. They seem to select certain ones as well, Sunderland away in the Cup was hipster central as was Nuremberg. They don’t seem to do London though.

For them they are so bothered about their personal hipster image that they don’t want to be associated with a successful team. If they accept kopite superiority willingly and knock Everton at every opportunity then no one can knock them when it inevitably goes wrong and, after all, they’ll never be able to take away that away trip to Turf Moor ‘scenes, limbs, pyro’ (whatever they seem to say when they celebrate other than ‘Everton’). They positively hate us challenging the top 4 or being in the media for anything other than some hipster story about Baines.

In short any successful club need fans who actually want success and want to compete. This element of the fanbase have no interest in this and must be crushed.

Now that Italy are not in the World Cup they’ll be supporting some edgy side like Croatia or Uruguay, and almost certainly anyone but England.

You seem to be looking for some verification that you are indeed a hipster. They are the most hipster words ever to adorn this forum.

Oh, very well then. Add in the Millenials too if you please.

Ha ha, there’s honestly a lot of young passionate blues who are desperate for success who get behind the team home and away. That’s why it’s so annoying when you see them being bored into apathy by one of the group I described. ‘Kopite behaviour that lad’ ‘Limpar was better than Arteta though’ ‘Baines is still our best player’ ‘Fellaini was world class’ ‘nah not bothered about where we finish lad just want a few decent aways in the cup and the europa’ ‘no pyro no party’ ‘Cenk scoring in the snow tho lad’ ‘these banners are embarassing’ (at the cup final no less).

Chang enthusiasts these

Imo, the 'hipster' connotation is somewhat different today than in the past when it was a bohemian, counter culture type. In the 60's they gave rise to 'hippies' wrapped in their 'sex, drugs and rock'n'roll' and 'tune in turn on and drop out' fabric.
Today hipster connotes a more serious, culturally aware (and pretentious with it), trendy ('indie' trendy but not mainstream trendy) person. They can be a massive pain in the butt.

I know ....

Let's talk about our new managements structure being crap, let's say our new manager and DoF are crap and that we won't sign anyone and everyone we have ever signed is crap and goodison is crap and BMD plans are crap and Bill is crap and Moshiri is crap and ....and .....and .....

Now that defines an Everton fan.
