Are Everton fans boring at away games?

Make organization about supporting the team. More flags, more songs, and constantly singing! Let gwladys street shines every game and instill respect among all visiting fans!

The OP misses an essential point in recent years the likes of Hull, Blackpool and notably Portsmouth and Stoke and even as far back as Newcastle with Keegan have effectively been winning the world cup every week. When these teams fart arsed around the lower divisions they would only get 2 people and labrador watching them.

Completely different to this club we're in a limbo awaiting "something", hardly the stuff to get the blood up.

Read press cuttings of our fans going to Wembley we dominate proceedings, it has to be meaningful and painfully just existing in the division isn't all that for most Evertonians - much as we turn up in numbers.

I detest this whole 'lets dress up and take pictures and get loads of attention on away days, that's what makes it fun' bollocks that has infected so many clubs like a virus.

You go to an away game to support your team in a situation where it's often backs to the wall nervousness and excitement, that's what makes it fun, not dressing up like a tit.

That's probably my complete opposite idea of 'fun'.

What next, are people gunna start planking ? Koff.

For once Nigel, though it probably means little to you, im inclined to agree for the most part.

Best two posts in the thread

Ok, i might of said this abit wrong...
I mean we should come up with better songs rather than ****ing GOD which is getting boring now... Its a classic and of course we need to sing it but every other team have decent songs which even our fans laugh at... Me sitting in park end, i tend to enjoy listening to the away support.

It's not personal mate, it's a long running thing on this board with the hate of zany fans at football matches. Generally any posts about it annoys people, guess it's just one of those things.

Mate you're wrong.

Just because I talk "cntish" doesn't mean I'm always a cnt - admittedly most of the time yes, but take no notice of my curmudgeonly witterings - we're all different and nothing wrong in that.

happy xmas brother.

Singing doesn't make teams win. Fact.

Singing is a form of encouragement.

Encouragement is a form of motivation to the players.

The right mindset and motivation can help players perform better. You perform your best you have an extra percentage to your game. So supporters may add 1% to the outcome?

If a fans support is completely inconsequential to the the match then why not just watch it on the tele?

Is our support purely monetary? Therefore making buying a replica shirt and scarf equal to attendance if profits match? I've heard that away games are non profit making to Everton, and if anything cost money in admin. If our support is only monetary then, then shouldn't we not attend away matches?

Dave Hickson once said "hearing the Gwladys Street sing my name made me feel ten foot tall". If singing can make a feel a player feel empowered doesn't that make it worthwhile to try and gain that bit extra out of him? Don't you think the backroom staff also try and motivate the players too to try and get the best out of him?

With the greatest respect lad, these players are on tens of thousands of pounds a week, and have thousands of people applauding them whenever they do something good.

If that ain't enough encouragement then ah well. I pay £30+ a game to watch Everton, i refuse to sing when we're playing badly. I will quite happily do so as well as clapping and encouraging them when it's warranted. Singing for no reason though, nah.

Wigan sing and have a drum and they're still s**t.
