They were among the favourites, alright. Most of Europe had England as top pick, if not first then top 3 for sure.

We have about 50 betting firms here and England was the top for the majority of them, and were even on the advertisements for EURO2024 bets. They were among the favourites, alright.

I'm just pointing out it wasn't just the British bookies - they're very obvious and understandable.
1986 squad. Gary Stevens, Trevor Steven, Peter Reid, Gary Linekar, Bryan Robson, John Barnes, Beardsley Waddle to name a few.
1996. Gasgoine, Shearer, G Neville Pearce, Sherringham Adams Fowler, plus others.
Shocker that mate. Here in Germany, England were not the favourites. They were in the leading group with France and the hosts.
Now he’s retired imagine his poor wife sitting at home with him night after night playing snap, that’s as exciting as it’s going to be with that bleedin’ bore.I don't think he's universally liked.
All those roids, you're about as flexible as John McCain. My arms buddy.
That's based on the Euros though. If you picked on club form you'd have Foden and Saka ahead of Williams and Lamal every day. You could make a case for Rice too. None of them performed at their club level, while Kane was so bad the top scorer in all of Europe is being talked of as having to retire. My combined England-Spain XI
Pickford
Carvajal
Stones
Laporte
Shaw
Rodri
Fabian
Yamal
Bellingham

On paper perhaps. But Foden, bar the first half vs the Dutch, really disappointed for me. Rice was terrible at times. Spain had the form players, or rather, a manager who played form players. Olmo had a great tournament. There is no case for Rice. Foden and Saka yea maybe
I completely disagree. Most international teams don't win international tournaments. A large amount of lunch is involved. Focus on performance playing good entertaining football band if trophies follow mores the better. I have taken absolutely no pleasure at all from watching England in tournament and I would have taken very little enjoyment from watching them scab their way to a tournament win because it senda out completely the wrong message in terms of type of football we should aspire to playMy grandsons U8 side is for competing, expressing talent and providing entertainment and fun.
Professional football is for winning. Winning well if possible but winning.
A lot of those players are just decent/very good club level players.1986 squad. Gary Stevens, Trevor Steven, Peter Reid, Gary Linekar, Bryan Robson, John Barnes, Beardsley Waddle to name a few.
