Apologise to Southgate

Gareth gets a lot of needless abuse, but he definitely fell into the Jupp Derwall/Mario Zagallo trap by playing his injured superstar forward when the evidence before his eyes suggested he needed to be brave. How he can play him if he was going to sub him on 60 is beyond me. Clearly he wasn't fit.

For Rummenigge in 1982 and Ronaldo in 1998, add Kane in 2024. The only difference of course is that Derwall, Zagallo, Rummenigge, and Ronaldo all won other major international tournaments, whereas poor Gareth and, needless to say, Harry didn't - and won't.
