Angus 'happily dissatisfied' Kinnear

He gets the stay of execution based on what he promised, two years of transfer windows - would have said three summer ones myself.

I don’t really think 12 months ago, people thought all our problems would be fixed - that was never happening really.
Jaysus. Really pushing up those standards with this stuff...

Sigh.

But you're right. Nobody expected all our probems to be solved in 12 months. We also did not expect to see 9 of the players who started the final home match last season still being at the club and central to our plans today.

We expected tangible progress. We got a point more at home.

I’d have settled for just one of them to have been solved mate.

Let’s not do the whole, I have ambition thing mate.

Look, the only progression in football is incremental, have we improved this season, sure, can we improve more sure - will we? It’s looks like we will try.

It’s a competitive league and in my opinion, we were coming from a crap base of years of underinvestment.

We’ve p,Syed the %s this year with available staff, but we were never turning over 15+ existing players, change will be incremental, this summer more in coming and I actually think we will disimprove, but that change is necessary.

Let’s remind ourselves.. Kinnear said the squad rebuild would be ‘unprecedented at Premier League level’

We then have 9 players start every week who were there last season. Incidentally how many of Sunderland’s starting line up today started their Championship campaign?

And yet Sunderland are improving at a faster "incremental" rate than we are. Yup, that self same Sunderland that sacked David Moyes...

And the two English clubs who most recently sacked David Moyes both put an end to his "European hopes". Oh the irony.

Made me think this, I can’t stand Moyes and don’t want him anywhere near the club but could obviously appreciate the job done last season and can even understand those wanting him to stay on another season even if I don’t agree

However I can’t think of anything at all which gives me confidence as a result of this manager. Not the defending nor the attacking. Not the attitude. Not individual performances under him. There’s nothing that I can think of that in the kick off to the first game under him next season would have me going “at least we have this going for us”. nothing but mediocrity

12 months ago we hadn’t sank 100 mill into the squad to stay in exactly the same place.

I’d be amazed if Dibling Alcaraz Aznou aren’t on the phone to their agents wanting out.

Gueye Keane McNeil all a year older and still in the first team.

I think we’re worse off than we were.

Or we destroy dead to be a PL club who will pay 10’s of millions for unproven players and develop them for 1-2 years time.

We were coming from a historical low base of investment in the squad ad with many needing/wan thing to have moved on.

People are dissapointed I get it - but realistically most were saying in Aug, we’d be a lucky mid table team - we’ve changed expectations - that’s a good thing.

It’s a competive league mate, you’ve no right to anything, if someone does it better, or get better or get lost……

Weirdly i had a pint with a Sunderland fan tonight, he hopes they don’t get Europe as he thinks it will relegate them.
