Just added him my fantasy football team as he's cheap .. im wondering if he will play much, richarlison will be out a little whilst he comes back from the olympics, trying to work out if townsend will start games?

I think that’s a safe bet. I think he’ll start a lot more than Gray, simply because you know what you are gonna get.

Townsend said that he was not signed as a certain starter in the first team but as a member of the squad, he also said it was his intention to show he was worth a starting spot in the team.

Either way he was signed to deepen the squad in an area we didn't have players never mind cover for those players.

I think the plan is to bring in somebody else and hopefully we can do that but there were plenty times last season when we would have welcomed somebody like Townsend coming off the bench.

Anthony Gordon is another interesting situation. He went on loan and for different reason they did not work.
I saw him in one game on SKY and he was brilliant, shortly after the manager got sacked and Gordon was frozen out, again I think he might have done as well by staying at Everton and getting minutes because again there were times when we could have done with him.
At the moment to me he seems low on confidence.

Yeah i think that was with preston, i think im going to stick townsend in, he's been playing alot in preseason and i think he will start whilst players are coming back. I think i will change him out and more things about with the fantasy football team so i can put in lukaku when he goes chelsea.
Then add barkley when he comes to us (that was a joke)

Been pleasantly surprised by Andros Townsend and thought he looked quite good during pre-season; could have had a couple of goals under his belt had he not hit the woodwork. Hoping he and Dominic Calvert-Lewin can develop a good understanding together and cause plenty of problems for opposition defences.

Cannot believe after spending near £500m in the past 5 years we're relying on 30-year old free transfer Andros Townsed for some goals and assists in the coming season.

Absolutely tragic.
We certainly have wasted money but most squads carry players that may not start every week but will contribute when called on.

There are probably only three teams City, Utd and Chelsea where the squad members down the line would get into just about every other Premiership team.

We did spend a lot of money but to be fair the net spend is less than that.

No doubting that mate. But a 30-year old squad player at Crystal Palace shouldn't be someone we're relying on. I expect him to start most weeks too, due to our lack of quality and depth out wide.

It is, but it’s not the lads fault. Reckon with crowd support him and Gray will really surprise us....bit like Marcus Bent and Kevin Kilbane did.
Marcus Bent and Kevin Kilbane were utterly mediocre players that should never have been in the frame at this club. So, yeah, they are like them.

Both were much better than some of their big money replacements, like Beattie and Bilyaletdinov for example.

I won’t be surprised if Townsend goes on to be just as effective as say the 20 million pound Walcott, who I don’t think was disastrous himself, and I think we missed his input last season.
