It is, however, it's a separate offence related to his own content: it's alleged he's released confidential information, potentially for his own benefit.

Just to focus in a bit, both mountbatts and mandelson appear to have been reporting market sensitive information to a Billionaire financial trades manager (and almost instantly at that!). mountbatts was a trade envoy for the british arms industry, and mandelson was in the room with the pm and chancellor when decisions regards the economy and bank bail outs were made.

I don't need to buy anything with my own money, if I have enough favours in the bank with other people I've helped make and keep wealthy.

I don't believe the royal protection squad were skimming mountbatts emails and phones. Their responsibility lies where he was on planes, in nightclubs, in private apartments, and not at pizza express when it's alleged he's been in the company of trafficked young women.

mandelson hasn't been touched directly by the trafficking aspect, he has to be arrested as well as mountbatts has.

When the deal is signed (for jets to saudi, for a resolution to irans gold, for nationalising the toxic elements of numerous bank holdings, for a £500B european bank loan) then knowing which way to bet yours and your pals funds is pretty handy info to have from the heart of the process.
