spurs were still 7th in league. not like Koemans terrible squad at 17th.

bit of a difference

But Koeman started out in similar fashion. But eventually what started as a 'hard stance' by Koeman, turned into an arrogance level which left him falling out with many players & staff. This created a toxic environment which ended up on the pitch.

Everything I've read about AVB during his time at both Chelsea & Spurs showed similar traits.

That's my point. I'm open minded to nearly every manager we've been linked to & AVB would get my backing like i back every manager until they lose my trust.

Just pointing my concerns that his man management style for me, is too similar to Koeman & not what we need when the players are currently in the gutters.

to be fair, AVB is much more experienced these days and I think he will have altered his approach just a little bit.

id be willing to give him a chance over some of the other names

People moaning about being linked with AVB? o_O The names that we have been linked with so far have been nothing short of embarrassing.

Name another "realistic" target who you'd have over AVB?

Dyche?
Pulis?
Martin O'Neill?
Fam Sam?
Alan Pardew?

Jesus wept.

the players he signed at spurs are the back bone of the team and play fast flowing EFFECTIVE football.

he has an eye for a flashy and effective player that's for sure.

couple that with lloris and vertongen and he has a super mix of attack and defense.

it s a YES from me

People reacting like he's top drawer also smacks of our current desperation.

If he's such a top coach why was he sacked from Chelsea & Spurs?

And why has he since then only managed Zenit & some Chinese mob?

AVB was on a hiding to nothing at Chelsea. He needed to get rid of the old guard but didn’t seem to get the backing when he tried.

Ridiculous statement considering one of the main reasons we are in this mess is down to how Koeman managed the team. Particularly his arrogance around the club & treatment of players.

Spurs were stuffed 6-0 by City, then a few weeks later 5-0 to them lot over the park.

Smacks of players downing tools. Why? If he was such a top coach?!
Koeman managed his team into losing, the players may not have liked AVB, but they won. He had 72 points, the most Tottenham had had that decade, and even after he was fired, the most Tottenham would have again until last season. His points total at Tottenham was THE best in their premier league history, up until last seasons campaign.

Plus, who cares if he loses the lockerroom in 18 months, unless you see him as the 10 year manager. Im not sure I see him as that, I think we need someone better, absolute upper crust, but with our current situation, we cant attract that. We need someone who can bridge that gap for us so we can get to that point, and who wont cost a fortune to fire. Paying 15 million for Marco Silva means you cant fire him in 18 months. If we have a long term goal to be a CL team, we need to have a long term vision, and right now that means we MUST bring in a manager not just to keep us from relegation, but to show to both players and potential managers alike, that we intend to, and are capable of, being one of the better teams in Europe. We cant just leap there, we must take steps, and I think AVB is a good second step.

I'm not saying he's top drawer, but out of all of the absolute tosh we've been linked with so far he's the best pick out of the lot of them IMO. It was Martin O'Neill last night ffs.

Which "realistic" target would you have?

AVB would be a massive gamble compared to the likes of Big Sam. But he might have way more upside who knows.. I don't think anyone knows who is getting the job.

Yes, but Koeman ended with a season heading towards 30-35 points. AVB ended with a season of 72 points, the two were nothing alike outside of they both got fired.
