I am completely baffled. Not too long ago, he was clearly a class above everyone else in our midfield. I couldn't believe we had acquired him. Now, he is such a impediment to our team, I am at a loss. I know the injury was significant and I fear that he will never come close to the player he was when he first joined us. He is struggling with simple passes. He has never been pacy or good defensively but his ball control, retention, and passing more than made up for it. He has few of those qualities it appears anymore.
He has never consistently been a class above. The rare very good game

He’s completely lost the ability to pass, it’s bizarre and can’t all be put down to his injury. We’ve been patient with him too, but he’s getting worse not better. Have to say if there isn’t a remarkable improvement he’s out the door in the summer. Offers nothing defensively but that didn’t used to matter.

This man had a Ballon D’or clause in his Barcelona contract didn’t he?
.
Well they never were in danger of paying that one out before they showed him the door.
Started out ok and has drifted away, looks like the same pattern as when he was at Barcelona were the fans grew tired of him as well.
like Bernard his reputation at this club far exceeds his actions on the pitch, Davies gets stick off are fans and is about on the same level as this fella.
Would sell him first chance we had myself, even when he is on form he is to slow, play him and Hamez together that is half your midfield the opposition can basiclly just boot the ball passed and run away from, he dosnt offer enough going the other way to compensate for that like Hamez.

Makes you wonder if he was ever that good or if we all just fell head over heels after being starved of anything even resembling a decent midfielder for so long. Similar to Bernard in that respect - just seeing someone with a decent first touch or carrying the ball forward was enough to make us think we had a player on our hands after years of Schniederlin etc but it's become apparent that both are quite limited players unfortunately

There were two occasions yesterday where he looked like the Andre of old. Took a ball back to goal, spun his man and passed to the wing and the through ball he played to (I think) nkounkou into the box but other than that, he just rushed and misplaced every pass.

He seems bereft of confidence which is worrying as this is what happened at Barca. I’m just glad fans are not there to make him feel worse.

Clearly struggling. We need him.

Could we try a midfield three of Allan, doucoure and bernard?

Seen milk turn quicker than this guy.

remember that guy who looked like a worldy at Anfield last season? He’s long since left the building.

He’s morphing into “Tom Davies” levels of bad.

That performance was 2 seasons ago mate.

The last performance I think he's looked right at it was on his return from injury and he came in for the last half hour against Arsenal. He completely set the tempo for us.

Unfortunately those type of performances and the one against the rs a couple of years ago are very very few and far between

Tom Davies gets loads of stick on here, yesterday if he’d been on the field he would have been much better than Gomes, for the simple reason Gomes did absolutely nothing but frustrate us fans watching and, I think, his team mates. Gomes has got a lot more in his locker than Davies but he’s lost the key to that locker and will never find it. Davies would have added energy, effort, determination and would have moved the ball forward, or tried to, none of the other players moved the ball forward all afternoon, leaving Dominic without service or anyone alongside him to battle two centre backs,It’s all been said but I’ll say it again, pathetic performance, pathetic selection and yesterday and last week pathetic management by Carlo. The lot of you have a lot to prove next week versus Man.Unt.
