Wholly disagree with this Toff.
I accept it's about opinions and all that but I wouldn't say that either Henderson or Fabinho are significantly better midfielders than our 3 who played yesterday. Thiago is a class act though to be fair.
Both Gomes and Allan had injuries coming into this game having missed the last game. I'm sure Allan in particular would have had very little training sessions as he would have been giving his groin maximum rest so it would heal properly.
We were up against a team working flat out to erase the memory of their previous performance and our lads were off the pace. But I've seen better teams than ours struggle against such intensive pressing.
We had 6 injuries to key starters coming into this game and we also knew that with a Saturday lunchtime kick off there would be jet lag issues with our South American boys. Another time when we're not suffering after effects of International break and Liverpool are coming into the game off the back of a gruelling Champions League match, and you could very easily see a different game.
I think Allan is brilliant mate, but he's not as good as a fully raring Fabinho in a holding midfield role. Apples and oranges a bit as his best role is probably box-to-box.
Henderson is excellent in their system. He was very good yesterday and outplayed Doucoure and Gomes - his pressing being the key there.
Yep, take on board all of your points but they do have a quality team. So do we though and we did show that at times. Just our best play came when we got it forward quickly into James, who is our one real world class player. But the fact we have a world class player could make all the difference.
