Barry is Joe Pubic.

No but I find that Blues are consistently trying to single out a player who then becomes the focus of scapegoating and fume.

A lot of them are always updating Instagram and Twitter not even an hour after the game. Only after yesterday game they're putting up videos of them dancing in changing rooms, these guys see it all.
It's not unique to us though, i mean Jose has been getting away with singling out players for years now. Gomes is just one of those guys who frustrates fans massively as you can see he has ability but getting him to do it on consistent basis is a whole other story and his whole career has been up and down like that.

You're right, Hopefully he can build up some form of prolonged consistency.

He has done better, but we must remember that the baseline has been quite low.

Of course, I hope that all Everton players will do well. This also applies to Gomes, but I am still skeptical that he can be anything other than a squad player if we have ambitions for the top 4 in the long run.

He has been pretty miserable for a long time. So to convince, he should be pretty good over a long period of time.

Huge opportunity to finish this season strongly and cement a spot in the side. Has to find that consistency or at the very least make his bad games 6-7/10’s.

hopefully can add some creativity as well if we move back to a 3-man midfield.

I think Gomes has genuine quality when he uses it. And recently he's looked a changed man. Maybe finally getting over the horrible injury. Much higher energy levels, sharper, more creative and tenacious in the tackle. As long as he doesnt have to track the player...

This is where I'm not sure - is he lazy, instructed not to chase down players, saving limited energy reserves, or just not that type of player.

There was one particular incident last night when Richarlison was going wide to track a player and turned to see Gomes not moving across, even though it seemed blatantly obvious he had to. Richarlison actually had to change direction and run back again to cover the hole that Gomes had left free.

Seems a little odd the way Gomes doesnt try at all to cover ground on more than a few occasions.

Glad to have him back to nearly his old self, just a few question marks remain.

It depends where you set your baseline. I set mine pre broken ankle, so I'm aware what a talent he is

Hard to do anything with the zero ability Mormon next to you. Never seen a fella go from a crap skateboard look to a crap Mormon look. It's done nothing for his abilities like! I guess we like nice guys over cups, so it's all good...
Interesting to see you haven't been slagging him off after yesterday's performance, have you worked out that Mormons have standard hairstyles yet?

Easy. Still crap. One swallow doesn't make a summer :)
Wow! Dismissing an Everton player (who was also at Barcelona) as 'crap' is unbelievable. You must be some footballer, you, that your standards are so high. Andre Gomes is a very good midfielder. His biggest weakness is that he's slow on the turn, and when a player gets by him, he is exposed and often gives away a foul. On the plus side, though, he has two good feet, can take the ball under pressure, and never hides. He's got a decent passing range, can win the ball, but he's exceptional at shielding and retaining the ball, due to his upper body strength. There are areas for improvement, as with all players, but crap he certainly isn't.
