Bonjour lids!

When i was watching us (on a dodgy stream) on monday ripping dem geordies apart, i got thinking to the position Bobby M finds himself in on taking over. Bit of a stretch this one, but i reckon it's a similar situation that old Mr Wenger faced when he came over here in the last millenium. er, apart from the fact we've won fook all for decades!

The point i am struggling to make is that Wenger inherited a decent team with deficiencies but it's one big positive was its back 4 (well back 5 with old ponytail). Likewise with our Bob. He does not need to mess with our back 4 and HE IS NOT. which means he can concentrate for now on tinkering further up field. The mighty Distain might need replacing soon but looks like we have the strength in depth to cope with that. and as long as we keep the lads in place things will only get better and better! Let's just hope we emulate Wenger's trophy haul (in early years) now! big ups!!!(y)

Me too.

I do like all these optimistic posts about us.

We probably will go through a bad patch at some point this season, but it's nice to see us at the moment.

How very dare you come on here being all optimistic and positive?!

This is an Everton forum. That kind of behaviour is frowned upon and not welcome.

Please refrain from further positivity and optimism or you will be severely dealt with.

pretty much sums up why im still pi55ed off about our exit in the CO Cup tbh.

Thought we could have genuinely put silverware in the cabinet at RMs first attempt.

massive opportunity lost there imo.

Guess theres still the FA cup though b)

we've had a decent start, it's good to be optimistic reality says we only have the FA Cup to win now mind so see you at Wembley in May dudes!!

I seriously think we are one the best balanced sides in the league right now and would not be too surprised to see us finish in the top three. I thought this after the three draws and our deadline day business was completed, just to confirm this isn't a knee-jerk from me because of the first half on Monday night. We are strong in every area of the pitch thanks to shrewd transfer business by Martinez. This style allows us to properly impose ourselves on nearly every game. It's exciting times.

I'm not going to lie though.

I think we will probably lose to City. But there's nothing wrong with losing to City.

We might not lose though. And that's awesome.

nowt to be negative about really lads

one final blast of positivity - even if (er when) we have an iffy spell in the next coupla months, have you noticed who we're playing around Christmas!? hell of a lot of easy(ish) points up for grabs. could well be top 4 going into next year!!
b)

No shame in losing to City this weekend. In fact we're due a loss. But I love the fact that I kinda, sorta don't think we will. We're in a great place at the moment.
If we maintain until Jan I'm fairly confident Martinez will pull out one or two masterstrokes in the transfer window (ala Barry) ...

There is finally a bit of variety in the squad including two terrific teenagers, a Drogbaesque point of attack and one of the best left full-backs playing the game currently. There is also now a plan B and possibly a C as well. A decent league finish <top 10>, some banner victories over the big boys and an extended cup run and I am sound as a pound. Enjoy the feel good factor fellow Blues - and the improved on field product.

I agree re: the balance of the side, but to say that top 3 is a realistic possibility is way OTT imo.

The style that we're playing requires confidence in order to make it work, we'll see what this side is really made of when we have a couple of defeats - which is inevitable during the PL season. It's far too soon to be predicting anything, we should just enjoy each game for what it is this season.

Theres still the league lad.

We could go to City and they could rinse us like they did United so lets not hit panic stations and become all negative. City are a team who can lose one week and beat you 5-1 the next.
