It's a great place to visit mate...living there is another story. Mostly hated it...the weather is dreadful...guess what...you build a city in the middle of the swamp, the weather will be very swamp like.

I noted the humidity like, and the smell when it rained. Intersting to here from someone who's lived it like. Suppose the French Quarter and Garden District are two very small parts of the overall picture there.

Is right mate. You did the good stuff...which are very good and a tiny sliver of that city. The average person/tourist wouldn't feel safe outside of those areas. Beyond the stupid swamp like conditions weather wise, I also hated the flatness of it. The only hills were the freeway overpasses...mostly hated those two years of my life.

@SerenityNigh there was a restaurant in Houston or New Orleans (or both) that served this exact dish. Part of me thinks it was Landry's...but I'm not sure. Pappadeux's just popped into my head as another possibility.

I don't think Pappadeux's is a New Orleans restaurant, just a chain. Landry's is a NOLA restaurant but not sure if it's a chain, and Copeland's is definitely both.

Anyway, that's American food, not NOLA fare. Looks decent though.
