American Food

I'm going to Miami on Sunday, I've not been there before, but I've been to New York and Hawaii, so tried a bit of American Food. I'm going to try the Cuban Sandwich whilst in Miami, has anyone got any food recommendations for Miami?

Can you get out on the Metrorail to Coconut Grove and then try Grove Bar Grill down by the harbour? Very down to earth and relaxed and lots of seafood as you would imagine.

Thanks, its closed till October though.......

Is it the "Grove Bay Grill"? I think we will be going to Coconut Grove, so I will look it up.

I believe so. To be honest, I couldn't remember the name so looked it up on the Google Map for CG and it showed up in the area I remember the grill being, near the town hall if that helps. It is in no way swish and upmarket, outdoors under cover, overlooking the harbour, some nice beers on sale. The parking area around the adjacent harbour was filled up with Ferraris, Mazerattis etc though!

You're welcome. Versailles is overhyped, but it's the place to go first to measure the rest.

There are a bunch of different food cultures within Miami, but Cubano autentico is what most folks are looking for. It's good.

Here's the pic that stopped me like a concrete wall - ropa vieja is the food of the gods.

You would think it would be seafood, but Cubans love beef. Just look at this. (sigh)

This might be a lead balloon suggestion but I'd be remiss not to mention it: there's a vegan restaurant called Full Bloom that I'd recommend. A good friend of mine was sous chef there for a while, and the variety and quality of the menu is excellent. It's on Belle Isle, which isn't exactly the most interesting area but isn't too far from the beach and a good spot for either lunch or dinner. There's also a lovely courtyard that offers a nice view of the city, especially of an evening.

Cool, I've had a look at their facebook page, it looks great

Great Latin American fare obviously Cuban food. May want to check out Little Havana

I'm hoping to get over to little Havana, my Great Grandfather was actually born in Cuba, so I want to check it, hoping to run into a long lost relative!

The view's look great, I don't mind vegan food...... but I couldn't give up meat
