American Food

From Monkey Burger, Tucson. Usually opt for the grain silo to the right to be filled with Fries.

This may put poor @Bryan over the edge.

That looks like the full "Rochester box" there with the white hots as the foundation. I will not express my horror at the use of lousy and southern cooking in the same sentence, but will proceed with the degree of grace my Aunt Gladys would exhibit. Something a little more classy from the same vicinity - a Beef on Weck, which is a singularly good sandwich. Far more impressive than a hot chicken wing with a celery stick and a plastic cup of ranch.

Damn right.

That's home cooking for me. Beef on Weck is ridiculous. God I miss kimmelweck.

As for the lousy and southern, I was speaking to the trends and balance of this thread rather than the quality of the food therein.

Cafe Poca Cosa, again, Tucson. Mexican Cuisine. Not food (we have loads of that), cuisine. No set menu... Chef decides daily what she'll make based upon what she has. I always go for the chef's plate. Instead of picking one from five awesome sounding dishes, you just grant her the authority to pick smaller portions of three different specials and put 'em on one plate.

This may put poor @Bryan over the edge.

If I ever came in to money, not only would I make a prolonged trip to the Goodison area, I'd also fly out a Bry, Chico, and a couple others so we could do a culinary and craft brewery sampling road trip across the US of A.

Now if you'll excuse me, it's 11:30am here, this thread has made me hungry. Putting down the laptop and spreadsheet, off to get a lomito.

Where do you go to meet women of all ages in Jacksonville? This is my destination for lunch today - the French Pantry. Female/male mix is about 80/20, and you start lining up at the door fifteen or twenty minutes before it opens at 11. Yes, I am taking my bride with me. If you see a man here, it's because he belongs to one of the women.

This is the food service end of the top commercial French bakery in the region - open for lunch, eat at communal tables, do it their way and figure it out. I tell all my single male friends that this is the place to go to meet women, and hear back that it is brilliant. The food is beyond good.

Proscuitto, Artichoke & Mozzarella Bruschetta, w/ a salad in the middle dressed in balsamic and olive oil. Triple noms. Get the lemonade. Trust me. The lemonade is as good as at a Vietnamese joint, and that means it is very very good. This is after you are seated with your drink, that dipping oil you see in the corner, and a basket of the most perfect fresh warm French bread you have ever encountered. Munch on this until the order arrives and make conversation. Envy me.

Why are all the women there? This is where they go to sin in silence. Here's the lemon blueberry cheesecake. Most often, this goes to the table, and the ladies bang dessert down like a feral cat before the rest of the food arrives. It's an amazing thing to watch, especially the mother/daughter teams.
