Multiculterism. Also what is American food? It's just carbs from every county in world. I love trying foreign food but sometimes you can't beat chips and gravy from the chippy.

English food is amazing. I absolutely love it.
Yorkshire puddings, chips (proper chips, our french fries are pale imitators), Sunday roast, pies, chicken tikka...
American food may be more varied, but that's because of our history of immigration. Most 'American' foods are just basterdized versions of some other ethnic food - such as our greatest creation: Tex-Mex.

Probably originated in the UK. Either way it certainly was grown and popularized in England.
It's as British as fajitas and nachos are American. And they are.
It's why American food is so damn good - we adopt the food of our immigrant groups. The UK has done so with some curries.

Sadly a lot of British food is all about low price and quality. We don't take enough Pride in our traditional cuisine like the French do. It's like the Kopite effect that we do the opposite just so we are different from them.

Oh for gods sakeMy lunch at Maddio's Pizza:
Wheat Crust, tomato-basil sauce, mozzarella, chili powder, grilled chicken, black beans, corn, jalapenos, cilantro, sour cream.
800 calories and 2/3 of my daily sodium allotment. I should have split it with somebody.
This thread is lousy with southern cooking. It's time for some counterpoints:

That looks like the full "Rochester box" there with the white hots as the foundation. I will not express my horror at the use of lousy and southern cooking in the same sentence, but will proceed with the degree of grace my Aunt Gladys would exhibit. Something a little more classy from the same vicinity - a Beef on Weck, which is a singularly good sandwich.
