Am I out of touch?

Hopefully the arse will fall out the game soon, but I would not bet on it. So many bang average players earning a mint.
It's so far out of touch now that you just have to switch your head off to it, or stop watching.

If it makes you feel better I know a player who’s recently left a championship side and signed for league 1 team. He’s lost £43k on betting in the last 2 months

Thanks for your responses
It just beggars belief to me when you think about the difference between the two occupations.
Maybe I was just influenced by my daughter phoning on the way home tonight after another terrible shift
I know I can’t do anything about it.
I’m just frustrated

You're dead on, it's as frustrating as hell. I have a 5 year old daughter, hope springs eternal as she's still too young for us to know if she's crap at football.

I think it's when you see how much the average players are stealing that one's pish starts to boil. Like OK, let's deliver Messi's weekly salary by jumbo jet. Harry Kane even - the very best football players have an ability that is reaching over a billion people on earth. But then you've got stuffed-shirt journeymen trousering 50K a week, today's equivalents of Phil Baab, then that ain't right.

tbh you see this in a lot of industries - the very best people are, if anything, underpaid. They're frequently surrounded by a (handsomely rewarded) senior management team of oxygen thieves who could be taken outside and put in a skip and no one would notice.

This is literally a meme.

Unless you are serious. Then I apologise.

what gets me is when a player won't move because the buying club can't afford the wages. I don't know what your average Premiership player would get, but a rough guess is a two year contract would set you up for life and you'd never need to worry again. why would wages be an issue ??.
Bale is pricing himself out of most moves because nobody can afford him, ffs he could play for nothing at this stage.

Question: You have a job. You have a contract which pays you X amount, let's say 1 million a year. Another job comes along which offers you, for the sake of argument, 750k a year.

Would you

A) Stay where you are and earn 1m guaranteed
B) Go somewhere else and earn less for no reason, other than you play football for below what you could earn not playing football.

?

My missus has been a nurse for over twenty years mate.

Despite the chronic lack of money, lack of staff and constant political interference she still believes in what she does and loves her job.

There’s not many jobs that can give you that.

You should rightly be proud of your daughter, as a good nurse, just like a good teacher and many others on the public payroll is making a difference to many people’s lives.

Respect.

Ps the only down side is that due to her uniform my youngest lad who is disabled thinks she’s a dentist !
